Pick the drive, USB stick, memory card or disk image you lost files from. It is opened read-only.
A quick metadata scan comes first; a deeper signature search can follow for files without records.
Filter by type, name or confidence and preview images, text and PDFs before you recover.
Recovered files go to a different drive, and each one is checked separately so the report shows what really opens.
Recovery tools can make things worse if they write to the damaged drive. FileFix Ultimate is built to avoid that.
The drive you scan is only ever read. No repair, no defragmentation and no "fix the file system" step touches it.
Saving to the same volume is blocked. Saving to another partition on the same physical disk is blocked by default and needs an explicit confirmation.
Getting data out and confirming it opens are two separate checks, and the report lists them separately.

The data was extracted and an independent check confirmed the file structure opens correctly.
The data was copied out, but the file type cannot be checked automatically. Open it yourself to confirm.
Some parts were found but the structure is damaged. The file may open with missing content.
We would rather tell you now than after a long scan.
On most SSDs, deleted blocks are cleared soon after deletion. Recovery from an SSD is often impossible.
If new files were saved over the old ones, the old content is gone.
A BitLocker drive cannot be read without its password or recovery key.
A clicking, grinding or disappearing drive needs a professional lab, not software. Stop using it.
Yes. There is no trial, no paid tier and no limit on how much data you can recover. The source code is published under the Apache-2.0 license.
No. The app works fully offline. It does not upload files, does not send telemetry and does not need an account.
Sometimes, but often not. Most SSDs use TRIM, which clears deleted blocks shortly after deletion. If TRIM has already run, the data is physically gone and no software can bring it back.
Only if the drive is unlocked with its password or recovery key first. Without the key, the encrypted data cannot be read.
