System requirements
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit
- Administrator rights to read drives directly
- A second drive (for example a USB drive) to save recovered files
- About 100 MB of free space for the app
- No internet connection needed after download
Verify your download (SHA-256)
Every release publishes SHA-256 hashes. Open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run:
Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 .\FileFix*To check the digital signature and publisher of the installer, run:
Get-AuthenticodeSignature .\FileFix*.exe | Format-List Status, SignerCertificateCompare the output with the hash listed on the release page. If they differ, do not run the file and download it again from the official release page.
About the Windows SmartScreen warning
- On first install, Windows SmartScreen may show a warning once because this is a new app.
- Click "More info", then "Run anyway".
- Check that the publisher shows PROJECTTEAMFORYOU — that is the real verification.
- The warning disappears as the app builds reputation.
Before you start a recovery
- Do not install or unzip the app on the drive you want to recover from.
- Have a second drive ready for the recovered files.
- If the drive makes unusual noises, stop and read the limitations first.
